Bermuda Triangle (Flight 19)

The Bermuda Triangle lies in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where many an aircraft and ship have gone missing and never found. Two British passenger jets with more than 51 passengers on board got disappeared in this region between 1948 and 1949. In 1945, five Americans ran a training mission over the area and were never found. Flight 19 was five TBM Avengers trooped bombers on a water navigation training flight from Florida. All 14 airmen in it went missing. A PBM Mariner flying boat with 13 crew members was said to have exploded in the mid-air while carrying out the search mission for the fight. The mystery remains unresolved with myriad of speculations about Flight 19. It is widely assumed that the airmen may have become disoriented and ditched in rough seas after running out of fuel.
