Egypt Air Flight 990 was a scheduled flight from Los Angeles to Cairo, with a stopover at the New York City. On October 31 1999, the Boeing 767-300ER crashed into the Atlantic Ocean killing all 217 people on board. The responsibility for investigating the disaster fell to the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) as it took place in the Egyptian water. It is quite intriguing to know that the American NTSB and the Egyptian ECAA came up with two different conclusions for the accident. The US report drew the conclusion that the co-pilot was suicidal and deliberately brought down the plane for reasons known to him. Egyptians, on the other hand, asserted that technical problems led to the disaster.
