Unveiling the magic of Christmas celebrations: 8 facts
Different celebrations in different countries
In Russia and Ukraine, Christmas is celebrated on the 7th of January and not on the 25th of December as in most of the other countries. They picked out this date as the Orthodox Church uses the old Julian calendar for religious celebration days. In the time of the traditional Russian Christmas, special prayers were said and people celebrated sometime for 39 days until January 6th, when the first evening star would appear in the sky. With the shining of the star, they would take twelve-course suppers in honor of each of the twelve apostles.
