The Louvre Museum is one of the largest museums in the world and a historic monument in Paris. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, which is situated in 1st arrondissement, at the heart of Paris. Built in the sixteenth century, it was established as the private collection of King Francis I. There are three large wings in the museum namely Sully Wing, Richelieu Wing and Denon Wing. It has collection of over one million works of art which includes Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. The most recent addition to the museum is the Louvre pyramid which serves as the entrance to the museum.
