The Shanghai Maglev is the world’s oldest and fastest electric train that runs in Shanghai’s Pudong area in China. It can go really fast, reaching speeds of about 268 miles per hour.

The whole project, also called Shanghai Transrapid, took more than two and a half years to finish and cost $1.33 billion. It includes two tracks that are 18.9 miles long and terminals at each end.

The train for Shanghai Transrapid was made by two German companies, Siemens and ThyssenKrupp, working together. Another German company called Vahle. Inc. helped with making the line electrified.
